While the writer makes some points that appear to have value on the surface, if he truly pays attention he will discover that the current state of the economy in general is due, in no small way, to people like him who attempt to undermine the value of home-ownership.

There are too many falsehoods listed to address individually, however the thought that "every" screaming deal is exploited by agents and their friends is ludicrous. I have helped many many fix N flip buyers on both sides of the transaction who have made excellent money.

Most people invest only a small portion in their homes, a small downpayment and monthly payments,.. but as the market appreciates, the equity is built on the entirety of the homes value,.. ie; if a $200,000 home appreciates at 6% per year,.. in three years it will have appreciated by more than $36,000. The Owner has a fraction of that amount of hard money invested. Even if the point is taken that it might be cheaper to rent that house than purchase it, that party would still have rent to pay with nothing to show at the end. in the end, only a fraction of that $36,000 gain was spent by the owner. If one takes away the commissions of, say 6% because this was the number he used,.. (That amount is not written in stine as He would have you believe) the net profit is still $24,000.

I look at the number of people who had been secure in their stocks,.. only to see them disappear overnight and wonder where this guy went to school. I have yet to see the housing market be as volatile as the stock market, and while there is certainly no guarantees of future values, or gains,... the safer money has always been on Real Estate.

Is it true that agents are well paid for their services,.. usually this is true,.. but I am left to wonder how many hours this fellow would put in for nothing in return,.. how much would he invest of his own time and money in marketing,.. how much risk would he take without any guarantee of being paid. That is an investment the Listing Broker makes every day,.. putting in untold hours marketing a home that "may" not sell, or when the Seller may choose to list with another agent at a lower price.

No,.. all this gentleman can see is the check that the agent recieves at closing without the knowledge of the amount of work it took behind the scenes to get the Seller to that closing table.

The truth is,.. regardless of what one self proclaimed, and self absorbed guru professes,.. Real Estate is still and will always be one of the safest investments available. It beats renting,.. hands down,.. both as an investment and in freedom.

It has been called The American Dream,... and while some people are experiencing nightmares right now,.. It still is The American Dream,.. and will always be.

One last thought:

Go ask your bank to loan you $200,000 to invest in the stock market,.. and let me know when and where,.. because I would like to be there to hear the laughter,.. both while you are there and after you leave.
